LOCK HAVEN, PA – At the request of the Clinton County Economic Partnership, the state Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) recently approved a seven year Keystone Opportunity Zone (KOZ) extension for three lots at the Lamar Township Business Park near Mackeyville.

The present KOZ was to expire Dec. 31, 2020, and the extension allows the benefits to continue until Dec. 31, 2027. A KOZ designation makes a site virtually tax free and provides another avenue to recruit businesses to the area. The KOZ extension at the business park, owned by the Clinton County Economic Partnership, is for three vacant lots that total just over 50 acres.

“We would like to thank all those who supported our application to have a KOZ extension,” said Jim Russo, Partnership Operating Board Chairman. “This continues to allow us to have another tool in the toolbox when attempting to secure a new tenant. The site also has an active NPDES permit, the earth-moving permit, and the park is just a stone’s throw from Interstate 80. We are ready to go.”

Russo thanked the Operating Board, Lamar Township, Clinton County, the Keystone Central School District and State Rep. Stephanie Borowicz for their support of the extension application. He also thanked SEDA-COG, the regional KOZ coordinator, and DCED.
