Terrapin Announces Virtual Workshop and Job Fair as Part of South Avis Expansion

SOUTH AVIS, PA – Terrapin Pennsylvania will host a Virtual Workshop and Job Fair to fill approximately 30 positions at its Clinton County medical marijuana facility with a focus on hiring veterans.

In July of this year, Terrapin announced it was expanding its medical marijuana grower/processor facility located on Henry Street in South Avis. The company said the $6 million expansion will enable Terrapin to double current production and drive further job growth in the community.

A virtual resume-building workshop for veterans is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 24 and the Virtual Job Fair is scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 1 and Wednesday, Dec. 2. Interested applicants must register in advance by visiting Terrapin Virtual Job Fair and Workshop.

Veterans interested in joining the Terrapin team will be offered a virtual resume-building workshop on Tuesday, Nov. 24. During this session, veterans can learn about jobs offered at Terrapin as well as receive tips on resume and interview skills. Interested veterans can register here. Veterans who register for the Virtual Workshop will be automatically registered for the Virtual Job Fair on Dec. 1 and Dec. 2. The Virtual Workshop on Nov. 24 will be streamed via Zoom. For those without access to a computer to stream the event, Terrapin will stream it live at the VFW Post in Lock Haven on Nov. 24 at 10 a.m., located at 1110 E. Water St. Social distancing and mask requirements will be enforced, with no more than 25 allowed to enter.

As part of its continued commitment to veterans, Terrapin has installed two computer workstations at the VFW Post on Water Street. Following the workshop on Nov. 24, these permanent installations can be used by veterans to build their resumes and conduct live Zoom job interviews with Terrapin on Dec. 1 and Dec. 2. The computers will remain at the VFW following the Job Fair as a permanent gift from Terrapin to the local veteran community.

“Taking care of our veterans has been a core mission statement for Terrapin since inception,” said Chris Woods, owner and chief executive of Terrapin. “From the start, we set out to hire veterans and to work with veteran-owned firms on security and transportation. This effort to expand upon our relationship with veterans in the Clinton County community maintains our commitment to serving a critical population that put so much on the line for this country. It’s our duty to keep veterans at the top of mind, especially as we talk about hiring.”

“When I met Chris Woods more than three years ago, he made it clear that he wanted to hire veterans to work for Terrapin and support vet-owned businesses as contractors,” said Dave Harger, founder of VETForce, Inc. a service-disabled, veteran-owned firm that provides security to Terrapin. “Little did I know that support would lead to the birth of VETForce, Inc., a Clinton County-based company that today operates in three states and employs more than 40 people, over 70% of them veterans. Chris and Terrapin continue to deliver on their promise to hire veterans and, as a combat veteran myself, I am grateful for it.”

For the general public, registration for the Virtual Job Fair on Dec. 1 and 2 can be found here. Interested applicants will be scheduled for an initial Zoom interview with members of the Terrapin team. Candidates will need access to a computer with an internet connection and a camera for the Zoom interview. Interview times will be assigned in advance based on preference and availability.

“We are very proud that Terrapin is part of our community,” said Mike Flanagan, chief executive officer of the Clinton County Economic Partnership. “Terrapin continues to invest and hire people from our community, with an emphasis on veterans. We look forward to assisting them at the job fair.”

“Terrapin has continually demonstrated its commitment to the local township since locating here over three years ago,” said Pine Creek Township Chairman Dennis Greenaway. “Its latest expansion comes at a time when people in our community direly need good paying jobs including those who have sacrificed their lives for our nation.”
