Betty Marie Lomison – Obituary
Betty Marie Lomison, 85, of Pine Creek Township, went to be with her Lord, Sunday, November 15, 2020, at Geisinger Jersey Shore Hospital.
Born in Jersey Shore on April 26, 1935, Betty was the daughter of Reynold (“Speed”) Eckel and Edith Bower Eckel.
Betty was a 1953 graduate of Jersey Shore High School. She married her Navy hero, Donald Lomison, on June 20, 1954. Betty spent many precious years as a devoted farm wife and mother. Later she was employed at Manor Care Nursing Home in Jersey Shore where she prided herself in keeping the facility spotless and lifting the spirits of the residents whom she loved.
Betty is survived by her husband of 66 years; her three children, Debra (John) Reese, Donald (Brandi) Lomison and Laurie (Rick) Hendricks; grandchildren, Dustin Moore, Shannon Reese, Kristen McKivison, Jonathan Reese, Nichol Lomison Shejbal, Jennifer Paulhamus, Ashley Lomison, Damon Norman, Hannah Norman, Katharine Hendricks and Madelyn Hendricks; 12 great-grandchildren, and another great-grandchild due in February. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Jeffrey Reynold; a sister, Barbara Maurey; and a brother, Robert Fidler. Betty has several nieces and nephews who were a special part of her life. She also is survived by her beloved feline, Nicholas.
Betty was very active in her faith and was a dedicated member of the Pine Creek Valley Christian Church. Spending time with her church family and serving the Lord was an integral part of her life. She also enjoyed attending the monthly gatherings of her graduating Class of 1953 and the Manor Care retirees.
We were blessed to learn many valuable lessons from “Gram” whose work ethic was unparalleled as a result of having been raised as the daughter of hard-working farmers, “Speed” and Edith Eckel:
Always keep the cupboards full
Never turn away a hungry soul
Always consider every decision without haste
Never let anything go to waste
Have purpose in your actions
And show your love with abundant grace.
There will be a memorial service for family and friends to celebrate Betty’s life on Friday, December 11, at 6:00 PM, at the Pine Creek Valley Christian Church, 26 Locomo Lane, Jersey Shore. It will be streamed live on Facebook at “Pine Creek Valley Christian Church”. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Clinton County SPCA, 33 Mill Hill Rd., Lock Haven, PA 17745 or the Korean War Veterans of Lycoming County PA, P.O. Box 3232, Williamsport, PA 17701.
