Ribbon Cut for Lock Haven’s New Lucky 7 Travel Plaza

Lock Haven Mayor Joel Long and Vassas Inc. President Sharanjit “Sonny” Singh wield the scissors for the ribbon-cutting at the new Lucky 7 Travel Plaza in Lock Haven.

LOCK HAVEN – It was “thank you’s” all around on Wednesday as officialdom welcomed the new Lucky 7 Travel Plaza just off the Walnut Street exit of Paul Mack Boulevard.

There was appropriate fanfare for the grand-opening of the $6 million facility. Vassas, Inc. is the owner of the travel plaza and company president Sharanjit “Sonny” Singh joined Lock Haven Mayor Joel Long in the ribbon-cutting ceremony. Earlier, after presentation of the colors, Vassas vice-president Sunjeet Singh welcomed those in attendance and thanked the multiple agencies that joined to bring the project to fruition.

Site of the former Lucky 7 Meats and L.W. Peters Disposal Service, the travel plaza includes a convenience store and gas station and a Wayback Burgers restaurant. Ultimately it will house a slot machine casino with five slots; that opening is not expected until later this year.

Vassas, Inc. also owns and operates the Bald Eagle Truck Stop in McElhattan. The Lucky 7 site occupies some 10,000 square feet, about double the size of the McElhattan facility.

The Clinton County Economic Partnership coordinated the ribbon-cutting. Primary contractor was M & R Contracting, Charles Grieb the architect.
