UPMC Lock Haven Remains Closed; Investigation for Cause Continues

LOCK HAVEN, PA – UPMC Lock Haven remains closed as of Monday, in the wake of a Thursday night fire and to this point there is no timeline on when the Lock Haven hill district hospital may open.

A UPMC spokesman provided therecord-online this update:

Work continued on remediation efforts over the weekend and will continue onsite throughout the week. UPMC Lock Haven remains closed at this time. We are working with local and state health officials to evaluate the extent of damage and when we can safely open services for our community.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Patients with upcoming scheduled surgeries or appointments will be contacted to reschedule, and those in need of emergency care should call 9-1-1.

Meanwhile praise continues to come in for the hundreds and hundreds of volunteers who joined in preventing a major tragedy at the hospital last week. The topic was discussed at the Clinton County Commissioners’ Monday work session. Andrew Kremser, the county’s Director of Emergency Services, detailed those who responded from all across central Pennsylvania:
