Lock Haven Area Police Say Goodbye to One of Their Own

LOCK HAVEN – With a large and respectful gathering looking on, area police officers paid their final respects to a deceased fellow officer at Triangle Park Sunday afternoon.

Michael R. “Mick” Kibler, 80, passed away unexpectedly on July 26. One week later, a funeral procession carried his body from the Donald G. Walker Funeral Home in Flemington into Lock Haven, past City Hall where he had been an officer for 20 years, down Church Street and up Main Street to Triangle Park. The procession included many motorcyclists and emergency/rescue vehicles.

A brief ceremony was conducted as area officers stood in salute. Hundreds of community members gathered along Main Street and then at the park for the procession and ceremony.

Officer Kibler finished his two decades with the Lock Haven Police Department as a detective in 1996 and later served four years as a Clinton County Jury Commissioner.

As stated in his obituary, “His devotion and selfless service to the Lock Haven area left a lasting impact on all those whose lives he touched. He was well loved by both his fellow officers and also those he served.”
