Fallon Alley Parklet Due for a Re-Do

LOCK HAVEN – City council Monday night approved submission of a $31,875 grant request for improvements to the city’s recently neglected downtown Fallon Alley Parklet.

The parklet sits between E. Main and E. Water Streets, across from the rear of Fitness Unlimited. It had been put in place earlier this century as part of an early phase of Lock Haven’s downtown beautification program. The grant is being sought through the state’s Greenways, Trails and Recreation Program. The city will put up just over $5,000 towards the project’s overall cost of $37,500.

Also assisting in the parklet upgrade are Lock Haven businesses Realtylease Properties and It Is What Is with $140 pledges each toward bicycle racks; and Rizzo’s Greenhouse of Avis is pledging $262 towards the costs of planting.

Work will include tables, benches, an outdoor bulletin board, planter boxes and $15,000 in fencing.

Council’s approval Monday night was unanimous.
