John Stevens Polka Band at LH’s Triangle Park Friday


LOCK HAVEN – The John Stevens Polka band will perform this Friday, July 3 at Triangle Park, for the Lock Haven Summer Concert Series. The concert will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., and those interested in attending the free concert are invited to bring their own chair.

The John Stevens polka band formed together in January 1995. A young and energetic band releasing their first cassette “Doubleshot Preview” in March 1995. Then in 1996 the band released their first full recording “Come On Let’s Dance” on cassette and compact disc. This recording opened many doors for the band.

After taking off for a year, the band regrouped in 1997 and began recording and playing numerous jobs in along the East Coast and as far west as Wisconsin. In 1997, the song “Everyone’s Having Fun” was named number one tune of the year on Jolly St. Nick’s Polka Revolution show heard over WPHB 1260AM in Philipsburg.

The band has been on numerous Television shows including: Pennsylvania Polka (WVIA TV), The Jolly Joe Timmer Show (RCN CABLE), Let’s Polka (WSKG TV) and The Bethlehem Musikfest (Service Electric Cable). The band has also performed on two Polka Cruises and released 18 cds.

The public is invited to attend this free summer concert. While this year’s Friday night concerts are scheduled be held at Grove and Main Streets, due to the Fourth of July holiday, this is the only concert that will be held at Triangle Park. Due to restrictions from the Green Phase, there will be no rain location for the concert.
While the committee is excited to offer these free concerts this summer, residents should remain vigilant to the threat of COVID-19 which has claimed the lives of more than 100,000 Americans and more than 6,000 Pennsylvanians including three in Clinton County. In order to successfully continue the summer concert series, residents and guests are to follow CDC and DOH guidelines in order to reduce the risk of exposure to COVID-19 including social distancing between non-household members while attending the concert, wearing masks, and sanitizing hands frequently.

To that end, the city will provide hand-washing stations at each of the summer concerts. Anyone who is experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 or is included in a higher risk population are encouraged to keep their health and the health of their fellow residents as their primary interest and not attend.
