Hyner Graffiti Cleaned-Up; Charges Pending
HYNER- State Department of Conservation and Natural Resources personnel and volunteers from the Renovo area took the trek to the Hyner Lookout on Saturday to remove graffiti placed there by vandals earlier this month.
Meanwhile DCNR continues its investigation to determine who spray-painted a portion of the lookout’s base. DCNR park manager Douglas Swisher told therecord-online the crime is institutional vandalism, a misdemeanor. He said the DCNR probe is ongoing and indicated charges could be filed in the near future.
Swisher said he could not comment on the status of the investigation. The graffiti had been discovered there June 1, about the same time a male and female posed in front of the wall, their picture carried on social media, but later removed.
Swisher was among those involved in the cleanup, in addition to community volunteers, including the Renovo Fire Department. While they carried out their task, there were multiple visitors to the lookout to enjoy the spectacular view of the West Branch Valley of the Susquehanna.
