Lock Haven Preps for Friday/Saturday Main Street Closure

Staff members at the Roxy Theater were at work Wednesday preparing for the reopening of the longtime Lock Haven landmark on Friday. The Roxy has been closed since March when the coronavirus pandemic first hit.

LOCK HAVEN – The City of Lock Haven will be announcing further particulars on Thursday as the city prepares for the its Friday/Saturday closing of a section of E. Main Street to assist downtown businesses through the end of summer.

Word came Tuesday that PennDOT has approved the city proposal, effective this Friday. E. Main Street from Jay to Vesper Streets will be closed to vehicular traffic each Friday and Saturday through summer, the hours from 9 a.m. on Friday through 9 p.m. on Saturday.

Plans call for a pedestrian walkway area on Main Street, allowing restaurants and stores to be able to move onto the sidewalk and parking areas in front of their businesses in that section of the Central Business District.

The city’s newly created outdoor dining park next to St. Paul’s Episcopal Church will be open all week, including Fridays and Saturdays, to accommodate to-go customers from the downtown’s local restaurants.
