Record Online Announces 25th Senatorial District Virtual Town Hall
MILL HALL – Michael Frank, Publisher of The Record and therecord-online, has announced a Virtual Town Hall to be conducted on therecord-online Friday, May 22, at 7 p.m. The town hall will feature the three candidates for the Republican nomination for state Senate from the 25th senatorial district.
Cris Dush from Jefferson County, Jim Brown from Jefferson County and Herm Suplizio from Clearfield County are seeking the GOP nomination in the June 2 primary. The senate seat will become vacant at the end of this year with the retirement of incumbent Sen. Joe Scarnati of Brockway. The GOP winner will oppose Margie Brown of Elk County who is unopposed for the Democratic nomination.
In making the announcement, Frank said because the district has not had a new state senator in 20 years, “Therecord-online sees this as an opportunity to enable Republican voters across the 25th district to learn more about the candidates.” He said a similar event is planned for October between the successful Republican candidate in June and presumptive Democratic nominee Brown. Frank said the technology now available will allow online viewers all across the district to join in the virtual town hall from home, an important aspect given the current coronavirus pandemic.
Viewers from across the far-flung district will have the opportunity to pose questions, online by clicking here prior to the May 22 event or by mail through a form in the May 14 edition of The Record.
Counties in the 25th district include: Clinton, Cameron, Jefferson, McKean, Potter, Tioga and part of Clearfield. Town Hall moderator will be veteran broadcast journalist John Lipez of Lock Haven.
Brown is a retired educator and a school board member in Brockway. Dush, from Brookville, is a state representative from the 66th district. Suplizio is presently the DuBois City Manager.
