City Seeks Comment on Tiger Den Playground Future
LOCK HAVEN – The City of Lock Haven is looking for public comment on the future of Kistler Park, more commonly known as the Tiger Den or Dickey School playground.
There was a consensus at Monday night’s city council meeting to put the park’s future on the council agenda for its May 18 meeting. City officials said they welcome the public’s input
The park/playground had been owned by the city until 2000 when it was transferred to the Keystone Central School District. The playground has historically been available for students at the long-gone Lincoln Elementary School and its successor, Dickey School. The school district school board voted in March of this year to close Dickey, effective with the next school year. The playground has been locked up since students were sent home due to the coronavirus earlier this year.
With the Dickey closure, the city has the option to reacquire the park and has asked for public comment as it considers the park’s future.
Lock Haven Mayor Joel Long had been part of the community effort to create Tiger Den in 2006. It replaced older, more traditional playground equipment.
