County Looking Towards Reopening
LOCK HAVEN – The Clinton County Commissioners held an abbreviated, virtual work session Monday and spent a portion of the meeting looking towards a reopening of the county.
Board chairman Miles Kessinger said the commissioners will be meeting with each department head individually this week to develop a reopening plan. He said none of that will occur before May 11 (the state is under a stay at home directive until May 8 at the earliest). The county closed its offices to the public earlier in the COVID-19 pandemic, although services have continued online where possible. The commissioners did note the Wayne Township Landfill will be re-opening to the public on Tuesday.
Commissioner Angela Harding said the county’s emergency coalition committee, originally formed to address the worst-case virus scenario in the county, is now working on a county re-opening plan, determining “how safely we can do that.”
County planner Katie de Silva reported the county will receive $159,000 in emergency CDBG funds. She noted the Bucktail Medical Center would qualify as a recipient for those funds, along with businesses which provide services to individuals under quarantine. No decision was made at the Monday work session.
Bill Frantz, county emergency management coordinator, said his office has received 1,000 masks and provided them to first responders and personal care homes within the county and has a stockpile for future needs.
The Monday work session was truncated due to streaming difficulties.
