Foundation Work Begins for New LH Geisinger Medical Clinic
LOCK HAVEN – Construction has begun for the Geisinger Lock Haven Medical Clinic in Lock Haven. Contractors are currently doing site preparation and building foundation work.
Marc Stempka, Geisinger spokesman in Danville, said the project at Spring and W. Fourth streets remains on schedule with an early 2021 opening anticipated for the two-story facility.
The clinic was first announced in March of last year, the site the old Lock Haven High School football practice field. The new facility is part of a clinical joint venture between Geisinger and Highmark Health. Services will include a walk-in urgent care center, adult and pediatric primary care offices and imaging and lab services. The new facility is also to house physical and occupational therapy, as well as a specialty clinic with dermatology, cardiology, gastroenterology, surgery and women’s health services.
Stempka said with the Commonwealth’s decision that health care construction projects are considered essential work, construction of the Lock Haven facility has been able to continue during the COVID-19 pandemic.
