State Game Commission Probing Elk Killing near Karthaus
JERSEY SHORE -· The Pennsylvania Game Commission is seeking information about the illegal killing of a bull elk that was discovered along Power Plant Road, near the town of Karthaus, in Clearfield County, on Oct. 16. A Game Commission posting on Wednesday said the elk was decapitated and partially butchered where it was found. The commission release said the elk’s head, antlers and meat have not been recovered and are most likely still in the possession of the person or persons involved in the case.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Game Commission’s Northcentral Region Dispatch Center at 570-398-4744. Information can also be anonymously submitted through the agency’s Operation Game Thief hotline at 1-888-PGC-8001.
The unlawful killing of elk is the second in the north-central district in less than a year. Last December the Northcentral office asked for public assistance in tracking down the unlawful killing of two elk in the Sproul State Forest in Snowshoe Township, Centre County.
