Lock Haven’s Hanna Street Signal Light Nears Return
LOCK HAVEN – An employee from Lecce Electric from Williamsport was onsite Friday repairing the traffic signals at Main and Hanna Streets. City Public Works Director Tony Stopper said the lights, shut down earlier this year, should be activated on Monday of next week.
Stopper said city crews will be working with Lecce staff to make sure the timing on the lights is correct. Once that is done, the black bags will be removed from the suspended lights. He anticipates the project should be completed and the lights functioning by 9 a.m. Monday. Stop signs on Hanna Street will remain in place until then.
City council earlier this week okayed better than $4,000 in repairs as an interim step until PennDOT installs new lights in 2021. The council decision came after nearby residents turned out to ask that the lights not be removed, citing safety concerns. Signal removal had been an option presented to the city by PennDOT after a traffic study.
