Irvin W. & Charlotte K. Edler of North Bend, “Citizens of Good Will”
NORTH BEND – Long time North Bend resident, the late Charlotte K. Edler, has left a lasting legacy for her community through the bequest of more than $2 million to a number of benefitting agencies.
The bequests were announced during a Wednesday program at the Chapman Township Fire Hall. The Edler estate executor and attorney, Robert H. Lugg, announced the distribution of her savings to various local charities, including the North Bend United Methodist Church, the Chapman Township Fire Company, the Clinton County Community Foundation in Trust to benefit the Renovo branch of the Ross Library, and the Clinton County S.P.C.A. These local charities and the Episcopal Church Diocese of Central Pennsylvania each received a donation of $200,279.00 from Mrs. Edler’s estate. The Masonic Village, a continuous care retirement community associated with the Freemasons and situated in Elizabethtown, received from her estate over $1 million.
Mrs. Edler, born as Charlotte Kime, began life at the beginning of the Great Depression. She lived her early years in South Renovo Borough and her working and married life in North Bend. She and her late husband, Irvin Edler, led modest but serving lives in their Renovo area community. Mrs. Edler and husband, Irvin, planned their estate so the charities to which they were committed would enjoy their fiscal prudence and careful estate planning, and now those charities are decidedly grateful.
Mrs. Edler passed away at the age of 85 on Sept. 9, 2018. Mr. Edler died at the age of 84 on Aug. 11, 2013. Both were longtime employees of the Bell Telephone Co.
