Hometown Hero Celebration Set for 10 a.m. Saturday
LOCK HAVEN— Downtown Lock Haven Inc.’s Hometown Hero Celebration will begin Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Corman Amphitheater. The weatherman is cooperating. While there is some morning fog in the area, no rain is expected for the much-anticipated outdoor tribute.
The celebration, held every two years, will honor veterans, current military members and local emergency responders. Hundreds of banners grace the downtown, put in place in recent days by community volunteers.
The Hometown Heroes program started in 2008 and to this point, more than 2,200 banners have been displayed honoring local heroes. Special speaker will be Navy SEAL Masa James from Bellefonte. James, joining the Navy out of high school, has served his country in multiple reconnaissance missions in hostile territory.
Seven new banners will be unveiled at the ceremony, honoring veterans who served in the armed forces from World War II to the Gulf War and Iraq.
