LOCK HAVEN – Lock Haven University welcomed about 120 Clinton County Economic Partnership members and guests Thursday night as the University hosted a Partnership ‘Time Out’ after-hours networking event.

LHU President Robert Pignatello welcomed the crowd, emphasizing the importance of campus and community relationships. He announced plans — in partnership with Downtown Lock Haven, Inc.’s Hometown Heroes Banner Program and the City of Lock Haven — to erect streetlight banners in the downtown that promote the University and its new slogan, “Soar Higher at The Haven.”

Pignatello also took the opportunity to showcase student initiatives. Students were on hand to exhibit their academic research, experiences abroad, and community service.

“We need your support to be successful,” Pignatello told the crowd. “We want to work with local employers to close the skills gap locally.” He highlighted the recently-established entrepreneurship and innovation minor at the University, and he invited guests back to campus on May 2 when Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education Chancellor Daniel Greenstein makes his spring visit.

Pignatello ended his remarks by saying, “Thank you so much for being here tonight, and thank you for supporting Lock Haven University.”

The Partnership’s ‘Time Out’ events are a way to bring the business community together for valuable networking and to showcase those businesses and organizations who host the gatherings. The next Time Out will be held May 16 at The Muncy Bank and Trust Company in Avis. For more information, contact the Partnership at 570-748-5782.
