New Dean Named for LHU’s Poorman Business College

LOCK HAVEN — John Nauright, PhD, will join Lock Haven University as Dean of the Stephen Poorman College of Business, Information Systems, and Human Services. Dr. Nauright, award-winning scholar with a global record of leadership and experience, comes to Lock Haven from the University of North Texas where he served as Department Chair and Lab Director.

Prior to his tenure at UNT, he was Director of the Institute of Research and Graduate Studies in the School of Sport and Service Management at the University of Brighton in England. He also holds multiple visiting professorships at universities worldwide. Prior to his work in Brighton, Nauright served as Professor on the faculty of universities in the USA, Scotland, Australia, and New Zealand.

“I am thrilled to be joining Lock Haven at an exciting time for the University and for the Stephen Poorman College of Business, Information Systems, and Human Services,” Dr. Nauright said. “The College has a diverse array of academic programs led by outstanding and engaged and caring faculty that prepare students for innovative careers in today’s dynamic world. I look forward to working with faculty and University leaders to expand opportunities for our students.”

A native of South Carolina, Dr. Nauright earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of South Carolina and a Ph.D. from Queen’s University in Canada. He has two adult daughters, Ashley and Lauren, and will be joined in Lock Haven by his wife, Jenni. Professor Nauright will begin his appointment on June 17, 2019.

Provost and Executive Vice President, Donna Wilson, said of Dr. Nauright “John will bring to the Poorman College a breadth of experience and a record of innovation that promises to advance the programs individually, the College as a unit, and the University. He is a collaborator at heart, and will build on the vibrant partnerships within the University and with the Lock Haven community and region that have been a signature of the College.”

“There are many exciting opportunities ahead for the Poorman College,” said President Robert Pignatello. “We are grateful for Dean Stephen Neun’s important work as Founding Dean of the College and look forward to Dean Nauright leading this promising College to new heights.”
