LOCK HAVEN – Customers of Santander Bank offices in Clinton County were notified by email Monday that 14 mid-state offices will be changing hands.
The Santander email said that subject to regulatory approval, the branches will become part of Indiana, PA-based First Commonwealth Bank. Branches to be transferred include those in Lock Haven, Beech Creek and Renovo.

The announcement said First Commonwealth is a community bank with “nearly 140 offices throughout Pennsylvania and Ohio.” Santander customers were informed, “There is nothing you need to do right now except continue to bank as you do today.” The transition to First Commonwealth is expected to occur later this year.

Other Santander offices to be acquired are five in Lycoming County, including one in Jersey Shore, plus two in State College, two in Lewisburg and one each in Milton and Danville.

Santander had operated two offices in Lock Haven until it closed its longtime E. Main St. location in March of 2017, consolidating operations to its Bellefonte Avenue branch. Santander had been the occupant of the Main St. building after purchasing Sovereign Bank in 2009. Sovereign Bank changed its name to Santander in 2013. The Main St. office has been vacant since 2017.
