Activity Reported in Prospective Fallon Hotel Sale
LOCK HAVEN – It has been five months since reports first surfaced that a Florida firm was pursuing purchase of Lock Haven’s historic Fallon Hotel. And while the sale is still pending, for the first time since then, there is word of activity on a prospective sale of the now empty, downtrodden brick structure on Water Street.
A check with the county assessment office this week brought word that the Fallon is still owned by Terry and Dolores Mantle of Jersey Shore. But in the meantime, therecord-online has learned, two men from the Orlando, FL area were in Lock Haven recently and plan to meet later this week in Florida with a developer who maintains offices both there and in Pennsylvania.
A possible Fallon sale had first been announced last October when realtor Melanie McLane of Jackson Real Estate confirmed that a sale was pending. No other information was released at the time.
In November a Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board placard was placed on the front of the building, stating a liquor license transfer was pending to “C & Q Tavern LLC.”
The Fallon, a Water Street landmark which has fallen on hard times in the last decade or two, had been posted for sale in January of last year after the building’s heating system gave out and the final handful of tenants moved out.
According to county records, the Mantles purchased the Fallon in 1997 from the late Charles and Hazel Stevenson for $104,000. The asking price as of January of last year was $275,000. The sale had been listed “as is.” There was a report last October of a sale price of $199,000.
