Griffins Nip Bucks
LAPORTE – A slow first period proved to be too much for the Bucktail boys basketball team to overcome Friday night, the Bucks falling to Sullivan County, 50-40.
A 13-5 first quarter split gave Sullivan County the lead but by halftime the Bucks had battled to within 3, the deficit 24-21. But the third quarter belonged to the Griffins, 14-7, the 10-point deficit proving too much to overcome.
Gavin Becker paced Bucktail with 14 points and two underclassmen, Anthony Pentz and Zach Pck chipped in with 9 each. Gabe Conway was held to 3 points. Other point-producers were: Alex Intallura, 5, and Drew Serafini, 1.
Bucktail did produce 8 3-pointers, Becker and Pick each with 3 and Pentz with 2. The Bucks went 6-for-12 from the foul line. Sam Carpenter’s 15 led Sullivan County.
The Bucks (3-4) return home Tuesday, hosting Benton. Sullivan County moves to 4-7 with the win.
