Lady Bucks Looking for Improvement
FARWELL – The 2018-2019 Bucktail Lady Bucks season should be a combination of upper classmen and a large freshman group that is looking to help coach Carl Gentyzel and assistant coach Tracey Shady to a more improved team record than last season’s 2-20. Coach Gentyzel is returning just four varsity players from last season and is hoping to fill in the next couple of positions with young players or players from last season’s JV squad.
The returing players are senior Sara Rathmell with juniors Emma Intallura, Emily Cross and Myka Poorman. These four players saw a lot of playing time last year and should be able to lead the team to its goal. Rathmell and Intallura are going to have to be strong under the basket for rebounds. Cross and Poorman should be the face of the offense and hard defensive play out front.
Looking to add help to this young JV/Varsity squad are seniors Bonnie Mills and Aaliyah McGowan, juniors Tessa Cowfer, Carlie Gentyzel and Megan Wagner and sophomore Christina De La Torre. The freshmen class is looking to give coach Gentzyel some height underneath, something which has been hard to find here at Bucktail. Freshmen are Julie Green, Emma Poorman, Jordan Burrows, Raileigh Issacs, Aleigha Goetz, Mariah Kepler, Nicole Embick and Dakota Werts.
Bucktail will open this Friday and Saturday at the Tip-Off Tournament in Galeton. Game on Friday will tip-off at 4 p.m. Then on Wednesday, Dec. 12 they will host Muncy at home starting with jayvees at 6 p.m.
