CM Grad, Moyer Leads LHU at Cross-Country Pre-Nationals
The Bald Eagles flexed their Atlantic Region muscle as well, as they racked up a number of in-region upsets. Lock Haven, ranked No. 9 in the region this week, topped No. 8 Slippery Rock, No. 7 Mercyhurst, No. 5 West Chester, No. 4 Seton Hill, No. 3 Kutztown and LHU just missed Atlantic Region No. 1 Edinboro by 6 points.
In all, Lock Haven recorded 18 dual wins and finished 11th out of 30 teams.
The meet served as one of the largest Division II-specific meets in the country this season and allowed teams to preview the course that will be used for the 2018 NCAA Division II Atlantic Regional Championships on November 17 and the NCAA Division II National Championships set for December 1, both of which SRU will also host.
Today’s men’s and women’s races included a field of 32 total collegiate cross country teams. In all, schools represented 10 different states. Both the men’s and women’s fields included six nationally-ranked teams. The individual runners in the field today represented 41 different states and 16 countries.
Leading the way today was Moyer, who covered the 6K course in 23:14. She was 21st and scored in 20th place.
Cadie Kiser (Chambersburg, Pa./Chambersburg) was 36th overall (scored 35th) with a time of 23:46 and Amanda Shultz (New Cumberland, Pa./Cedar Cliff) was 50th (scored 49th) with a time of 24:01.
Caroline Stickley (Atglen, Pa./Octorara) was 112th (scored 107) with a time of 25:13 and Amanda Hassinger (Milroy, Pa./Mifflin County) was 129th (scored 118) with a run of 25:29.
LHU will return to action on Saturday, November 3 at the 2018 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championships (at Edinboro).
