Castanea Death Ruled Suicide


LOCK HAVEN – Authorities have ruled the death of a woman in Castanea a suicide.

Multiple state police officers had responded to a Tuesday afternoon incident in a residential neighborhood in Castanea Township. Authorities were initially mum on the incident as they investigated but Wednesday Clinton County Coroner Zach Hanna and District Attorney Dave Strouse provided information.

The Hanna release:

“At 1415 hours on September 25, 2018 at the residence of 9 Collegewood Avenue ni Castana Township, I, Zach Hanna, Clinton County Coroner, pronounced death of a 24 year old female form Williamsport, PA.

Following an extensive investigation by myself and the Pennsylvania State Police, the manner of death was ruled as suicide.
Due to the sensitive manner of death, it is my wish that her identity remain private and published only by means of her immediate family.”

And from District Attorney Strouse:

In light of recent media reports that could give rise to public concern, Clinton County District Attorney Dave Strouse and the Pennsylvania State Police are issuing the following:

On 09/25/18, at approximately 1300 hours, PSP Lamar responded to the above location for the report of a suicide. Upon arrival, a deceased female was located within the residence. During the investigation itwas determined that the female had committed suicide using a firearm. At this time of this investigation, there is no foul play suspected.
