Powers Health Center Up and Running
FLEMINGTON – The longtime dental office of Dr. Richard L. Powers II has taken on a new look in recent weeks. Dr. Powers was recently joined at his expanded High Street, Flemington location by son and chiropractic physician Dr. Richard L. “Lee” Powers III.
The expanded operation, known as the Powers Health Center, is the only clinic in the area where, the younger Powers said, “We offer multiple treatment options where doctors from different specialties work together for patient improvement and treatment.”
Dr. Lee Powers occupies a new suite of rooms in his part of the building, Powers Chiropractic, Rehabilitation and Electrodiagnosis. He said a variety of services are offered there: chiropractic treatment, rehab exercises and therapy, nerve conduction study, nutritional consultations, cupping, kinesiotaping, laser therapy, decompression therapy, electronic stimulation, ultrasound therapy, athletic improvement/sports consultations, DOT physicals, learners permit physicals and bus-driving physicals.
The younger Powers has a bachelor’s degree in biotechnology, masters in biotechnology, bachelors in professional studies of integrated healthcare and a doctorate of chiropractic from New York Chiropractic College. He is certified in whole food nutrition, electrodiagnostics, activator and is a certified medical examiner. His residency was in a multidisciplinary clinic, two veterans hospitals, and one community hospital where he specialized in tempro-mandibular joint dysfunction as well as nerve conduction studies and treatment of patients ranging from professional athletes to paraplegic and stroke victims.
Dr. Lee Powers brings a varied resume in his return to Clinton County after graduating from Central Mountain High School in 2007. He was an all-conference 4-year starter in college playing soccer for Marywood University. Additionally he owns and operates the international company Triple Toe Calls, company products currently sold in Dicks Sporting and Field and Stream.
During a recent visit he pointed to the vacant field on the west side of the Powers facility and said health center expansion plans call for the addition of a nurse practioner, a medical doctor and a physical therapist.
The expanded operation now includes Lee’s mother Leslie as a chiropractic assistant; she recently retired after 30 years of teaching. Additionally Dr. Richard Powers’ mother (Lee’s grandmother), Mary Ann Everett, is a dental assistant. And someday there could be even more Powers at the health center. Lee’s middle brother Nathaniel is in school becoming an oral surgeon and younger brother Micah is in school to become a chiropractic physician.
Powers Health Center will be holding a grand opening pig roast on Friday, Sept. 28 from 5 to 8 p.m. with a ribbon-cutting ceremony as part of the program. Both doctors’ offices are accepting new patients and both participate in many insurances.
