WOOLRICH – The Clinton Softball 9-11 All-Stars picked up their second consecutive win over the Jersey Shore Area All-Stars, this time by a margin of 11-1. The victory earned Clinton the District 12 9-11 championship.

Both teams were scoreless in the first inning then Clinton began to make their move in the top of the second inning when Kierstyn Reed and Mattisyn Mason had consecutive base hits to get things rolling. Then Maya Krout worked a walk before Danica Kelly pounded out a double to give Clinton a 4-0 lead.

Clinton would add another run in the top of the third inning when Brynn Swanger had a 1-out single to get on board and scored a ‘Shore error.

Shore finally broke the seal on the scoreboard in the bottom of the third inning when they took advantage of a pair of walks, one each for Dani Miller and Kalysga Johns with Miller scoring on some aggressive base running with ‘Shore trailing 5-1.

Clinton started offense churning once more in the top of the fourth when Mason was hit by a pitch and Cheyenne Weaver earned a base on balls. Then Kelly smacked a base hit followed by walks for Leah Lohman, Ellie Heaton and Swanger that resulted in 6 more runs to extend the Clinton lead to 11-1.

In the bottom of the fourth, Jersey Shore had one final opportunity to get back in the game but Clinton pitcher, Jacey Tripp held strong walking one batter and striking out 2 to seal the win.

Tripp hurled a no-hiiter against shore walking six batters and striking out a total of 6 batters in the effort.

With the win, Clinton is the District 12 champion and also the Section 3 champs. Since no other teams were entered the age group for section 3, Clinton has an automatic berth in the state championship tournament to be held in Newton, PA on July 27-Aug. 2, hosted by Yough Little League of District 9 in southwestern Pennsylvania.
