Lady Griffins Topple Bucktail, 12-8
FARWELL – It is the same heartbreak story for the Lady Bucks this season. ERRORS! Dispite two homeruns by Anna Cowfer and 12 total hits for the lady Bucks well scoring 8 runs. Sullivan County took full advantage of the lady Bucks 9 errors as the Lady Bucks lost 12-8.
Lady Bucks jumped out with three runs in the first. Cowfer lead-off with a single. Myka Poorman singled for the first RBI of the game. Emily Cross and Makenzi Brennan both single as Poorman scored. Cross would score on a groundout. The Lady Griffin’s first batter reached base on an error and scored on a base hit. Making it 3-1 Lady Bucks.
Cowfer would hit her first homerun of her career with two outs in the second inning. Bucktail defense was strong in the bottom of the inning. In the third Cross would smash a triple to right centerfield and score again on a groundout ball making it 5-1 Lady Bucks.
In the bottom of the third SC would score eight runs as the Lady Bucks had 5 of its total 9 errors alone in the inning. Bucktail would continue to fight back as Cowfer again with two outs on the board, hit her second homer of the game, making it 9-6 SC.
Sullivan County would answer right back with a run. Lady Buck, Cross would lead-off with a double and score on a sacrifice fly by Tessa Cowfer in the fifth inning. The Lady Griffins would score their final two runs in the fifth on errors as SC lead 12-7. In the top of the sixth Anna Cowfer would reach base for the fourth time on a hit by pitch. She would score on a single by Poorman.
Cowfer will never forget this game as she was 3-for-3, 2 HR and 2 RBI as well as scoring four times. Cross was 3-for-4 and scoring three times.
The Lady Bucks are now standing at 5-9 as they travel to Columbia-Montour VT for the resume game on Wednesday starting at 4:30 p.m. CMVT is up 2-1 in the bottom of the first inning.
