Bellefonte Picks Up 2-0 Pitching Duel Win over Wildcats
MILL HALL – It seems the only way to get past Central Mountain is to bring your strength against theirs and hope for the best. In a battle of two solid District 6 programs, these backyard neighbors fought hard for 7 innings with Bellefonte edging the Wildcats 2-0 in the end.
Bellefonte did their damage scoring 1 run each, in the fourth and sixth innings.
In the fourth it was C.J. Lauck scoring Ryan Bossert on a sac fly. Then Lauck pounded out a two-out single in the fourth inning to plate C.J. Funk.
On the mound, senior Trevor Hanna went the distance for the Wildcats allowing 4 hits, 2 walks and striking out one batter in the effort. Hanna threw 89 pitches in the game, 58 of which were in the strike zone and faced 28 Red Raider batters.
For the Red Raiders, freshman Bobby Marsh pitched all 7 innings yielding 3 hits, striking out 3 CM batters. Marsh faced 26 Wildcat batters and threw 83 pitches, 59 in the strike zone.
To say the respective pitchers offered their best work in this game is an understatement.
Hanna, Aaron Swartz and Rocco Stark all had base hits for Central Mountain.
Lauck, Marsh, Young and Funk all had singles for Bellefonte.
Central Mountain will now travel to Lewistown to face Mifflin County on Monday, May 7, 2018.
