Montgomery Edges Lady Bucks 7-6

FARWELL – The Lady Bucks did not have enough offensive power to beat Montgomery as they were edged 7-6. Montgomery scored two runs in the first inning. Bucktail struggling to find hits tonight as they would have runners on base every inning and could not find that timely hit which they needed.

Montgomery scored all three of their runs in the third inning off of errors by the Lady Bucks. Montgomery would add one more run in the top of the fifth as the Lady Red Raiders lead 6-0. The Lady Bucks would have a big spark in the fifth inning as they score four runs. Lead-off hitter Anna Cowfer, Marai D’Onofrio and Myka Poorman would all draw walks as the bases was loaded and no outs. Bucktail would score the first run by a error. What looked like Montgomery getting out of the inning with two outs and bases still loaded. Poorman would score on a passball. Kayli Casper would smash a triple to rightfield for two RBI. making it 6-4 after five.

Montgomery would find one more run in the sixth. Lady Bucks with two outs would come up with two runs. D’Onofrio would reach first  on a error. Poorman would reach base on another error which advance them both to second and third. Emily Cross would single through the infield for two RBI making the score 7-6.

The lady Bucks would leave a runner at third base to end the game. Poorman pitched well with 7 strikeouts in the game which took her over the century mark for the season. Last season it took her until the final game to eclipse that mark. She is pitching well and for this point of the season and the way the games are back-to-back with four straight games this week.

On the offensive side of the game it was K. Casper going 2-for-3 and 2 RBI as the Lady Bucks only find four hits off their bats.

Next for the Lady Bucks (4-8) is another reschedule game for Wednesday at home against Millville starting at 4:30 p.m.
