CM First Inning Romp Sets Pace for 11-6 Win over Shik

SUNBURY – Central Mountain (8-2, 5-1) net on the road today and put on a first inning hitting clinic for the Shikellamy Braves that bright home a solid 11-6 PHAC win.

The effort in the first inning was key for the Wildcats with Zach Eck, Asher Corl, Austyn Carson, Aaron Swartz, Trevor Hanna, Troy Gardner and Rocco Stark all producing base hits for Central Mountain. CM also took advantage of 3 walks, 3 wild pitches and a Shik error to earn a 8-0 lead.

In the second inning base hits from Evan Prough and Swartz, along with a RBI single from Hanna and Swartz would score on a wild pitch to put the ‘Cats up 10-0.

Shikellamy battled back for a pair of runs in the bottom of the second inning still trailing, 10-2.

Central Mountain would plate an insurance run in the fifth inning, a result from another RBI single from Hanna to go up 11-2.

The Braves rallied for 3 more in the bottom of the fifth and another run in the bottom of the seventh inning to set the final tally at 11-6.

Picking up multiple hits for the Wildcats were Prough, Swartz and Hanna with 3 singles each and Gardner had a double and a single.

Asher Corl was the starter on the mound for the Wildcats, pitching 4.1 innings allowing 4 hits, 5 walks, striking out 2 batters. Trevor Hanna closed out the last 2.2 innings giving up 3 hits, striking out 3 batters.

Central Mountain will host Selinsgrove tomorrow, Friday, April 27, 2018 for another key PHAC contest.
