Lady Bucks Put Things Together in Downing Neumann, 12-2

FARWELL – The Bucktail softball team needed a win and got just that Saturday afternoon. The Lady Bucks played errorless ball as they defeated St. John Neumann by a score of 12-2 in six innings. Myka Poorman started out strong on the mound by striking out six of the first eight batters she faced. Finishing up with eight strikeouts, one walk and giving up four hits.

Bucktail was seeing the ball well at the plate as they had 14 hits and creating seven walks. It was in the second inning the Lady Bucks got rolling as Kayli Casper lead-off with a single and the next two batters struck out. With the top of the order then, Anna Cowfer walked as Maria D’Onofrio singled for two RBI’s. Emily Cross singled for a RBI and Makenzi Brennans fielder’s choice got one more run in as Bucktail lead 4-0.

SJN would score two runs in the third. In the fourth Lady Bucks Poorman and Cross each received a walk to start. Brennan’s hard hit ball to third scored Cross as Poorman stole all three bases to score. Emma Intallura would single and Casper would single up the middle to score Brennan. Casper would score on a single by A. Cowfer, making it 9-2 after four innings.

Cross would single in the fifth as she scored on a single by Intallura. Lexi Labaugh would single Brennan home. Bucktail would end the game in the sixth as A. Cowfer walked and Poorman would double. A. Cowfer would come across the plate on a Brennan single to end the game 12-2.

Cross and Poorman were very strong at the plate as they both went 2 for 2 as Cross had 2 RBI’s. They both received 3 walks on their other times at bat. A. Cowfer and Casper each went 2 for 3 as A. Cowfer received two walks. Brennan was 2 for 5 with 2 RBI’s as she hit the ball hard to get on base every time at bat.

The Lady Bucks now stand 3-4 and will travel to Benton on Monday starting at 4:30 p.m.
