FARWELL – The Bucktail Lady Bucks lost a tough one against Columbia-Montour Vo-Tech on Wednesday as the Lady Rams won 7-6. This time the errors were costly with a hitting and bunting team like CMVT. CMVT scored two runs in the first inning and one run in the third inning from sacrifice bunts.

The bottom of the third Bucktail would score two runs from Maria D’Onofrio’s lead-off walk and Myka Poorman’s single. D’Onofrio scored on a fielder’s choice as Poorman scored on a sacrifice fly by Makenzi Brennan making it 3-2 Lady Rams.

The top of the fourth inning saw CMVT have the bases loaded on two errors and a walk. With two outs CMVT hit a single to right field to score all three runs. Bucktail would answer back with two runs in the bottom. Aaliyah McGowan was walked and scored from a D’Onofrio single. Poorman would score D’onofrio on a hard double to leftfield as the score was 6-4 Rams.

CMVT would score one in the sixth as the Lady Bucks would score one in the fifth and sixth as the lead off batters would get on and score. CMVT would end the seventh inning by striking out the side.

Poorman would strikeout 10 and give up 4 hits and 6 walks. Poorman in the six games has had double-digit strikeouts in five of the six games. There were too many runners left on base (10) as Coach Poorman pointed out. “We have to capitalize on the opportunities at the plate.”

Emily Cross was walked all four times at the plate and scored once. Poorman was 2 for 4 as Brennan went 2 for 3 on the night.

Now 2-4, the Lady Bucks play Thursday at home against Sullivan County.
