Lady ‘Cats Romp over Shik, 16-1
SUNBURY – After suffering back-to-back losses to Williamsport and Jersey Shore that featured less then stellar defensive efforts, Central Mountain was eager to right the ship and return to their winning ways. The Lady Wildcats accomplished that goal by drubbing Shikellamy (4-3, 2-1) 16-1 in just 3 innings of play.
Central Mountain (3-3, 1-1) bounced back with a solid effort, jumping out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning paced by an RBI double from Josie Dershem and an RBI single from Skylar Smith . The Lady Braves picked up a solo dinger in the second inning to close the gap to 4-1.
Then the Lady ‘Cat bats went back to work work in the bottom of the second inning for 6 more runs. This time singles from Caitlyn Brush and Madison Knepp and a 3 RBI double from Smith fueled the effort.
Central Mountain capped off their effort with six more runs in the third inning for a 16-1 advantage to end the game under the 15 run mercy rule.
The final offensive onslaught came from singles from Dershem, Smith (RBI), Knepp (RBI) and an RBI sac fly from Alexa Shultz.
Brush and Knepp shared duties in the circle for CM with Brush woking the first two innings allowing 3 hits. Knepp faced the final four batters, , walking one in the third inning to seal the shut-out win.
