Lady Bucks Shut Down in Season Opener

FARWELL – Coming off their best season in school history, the Bucktail Lady Buck softball team has hopes for the 2018 season.

But the Lady Bucks season opener did not fare well Wednesday as Galeton shutout the Lady Bucks 8-0. Only two players for the Lady Bucks reached base from a walk and error. Galeton jump on the Lady Bucks in the first inning as they led 2-0. The visitors would add another two runs in the third and four more runs in the last three innings.

Sophomore Myka Poorman pitched all seven innings as she had 8 strikeouts while allowing only two walks and giving up 7 hits. The Lady Bucks struck out ten times in twenty-two times at the plate. Maria D’Onofrio and Emily Cross had a perfect game on the field as they each had 8 put-outs as Cross added one assist on an out.

Next game for Bucktail is Tuesday, April 3 at Benton, first pitch at 4:30 p.m.
