Lock Haven University Football Player Takes Own Life
Clinton County Coroner Zack Hanna confirmed that Daniel Strawbridge committed suicide about 1:45 a.m. Friday, according to a Sunday report on PennLive.com. No additional details were released from the coroner’s office or from Lock Haven police.
Strawbridge had been a Pennsylvania Conference all-star defensive back and had been among those recognized at the school’s senior day on Nov. 11.
His death stunned the college community. LHU head coach Dave Traynor told PennLive, “Daniel Strawbridge was a leader in our program on the field as a three-time all-conference player and the consummate teammate off the field who was a selfless mentor for many of our younger players over the past couple of years.”
“He has been a friend to many, having a profoundly positive and widespread impact throughout our campus community. His smile, personality and competitiveness touched me every day I had the opportunity to coach him.”
Harrisburg High School coach Calvin Everett told PennLive, “Daniel was a great football player for us, but more importantly he was a great kyoung man. He was always kind, respectful, enthusiastic and always kept a smile on his face.”
