Dickey Elementary Teacher Receives Certificate of Appreciation and Donation
LOCK HAVEN – Each year over 1,200 Verizon stores donate boxes of school supplies to teachers that go above and beyond in their duties. The “Teachers Rock Boxes” help provide everyday classroom supplies to students and teachers.
Brian Delaney, TCC Montoursville, Verizon Wireless Store Manager and a Dickey parent, nominated Mrs. Annette Salisbury for one of this year’s donations. Mrs. Salisbury teaches first grade at Dickey Elementary and has been teaching in Keystone Central School District for close to 23 years.
“I was shocked and surprised to be selected,” said Mrs. Salisbury. “You do what you do each day and you don’t think about it being special,” she continued, “everybody does it; it’s just what teachers do.”
Mrs. Salisbury’s donation included; pencils, pens, dry erase markers, erasers, glue, paper, tissue boxes, sticky notes and more. Each supply pack donated by Verizon enables a teacher to impact an average of 30 students.
“We’ve already started using the supplies. The pencils and tablets, glue sticks are always a big need and in fact, the gel pens are a positive reward for students to use their positive points,” said Salisbury.
Students earn positive points for good behavior as part of the School Wide Positive Behavior Program. Students get to use earned points to select the gel pen color of their choice and use that pen for the day. In addition to the supplies for her classroom, Mrs. Salisbury was presented a certificate of appreciation for the work she does with her students each day.
The fifth annual Teachers Rock Supply Giveaway campaign, which took place during mid February, ensures classrooms are well-stocked at the start of the New Year. Since 2015, TCC has donated more than 14,000 supply packs to deserving teachers across the country.
TCC makes ongoing investments in the local communities where it operates through its Culture of Good movement. In 2017, the company donated 172,000 backpacks with school supplies to children; 3,000 care kits to senior living communities; and supply packs to more than 5,600 teachers and 2,500 veterans across the U.S. TCC Montoursville, Verizon Wireless is owned and operated by Mr. Sean Morgan.
