Wildcats Roll over Mustangs, 77-14

BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP – Central Mountain boys’ basketball has been in a pressure cooker of late with each outing resulting in a tough matchup. Tonight the Wildcats had a chance to relax and let their game flow when they hosted a struggling Midd-West squad, rolling to a 7714 win over the Mustangs.

Central Mountain (11-6, 8-3 PHAC) jumped out way ahead in the first quarter outpacing Midd-West 24-4 and never looked back romping to a 43-7 advantage at the break.

The ‘Cats shut out the Mustangs in the third quarter and let the bench get some valuable varsity experience late in the game.

Jake Skrtich paced CM with 13 points with Tyler Adair (11 points) and Addison Thomas (9 points) each sunk multiple three-pointers. Collin Jones tapped out at double digits, scoring 11 points for Central Mountain (5-for-9). Also chipping in for Central Mountain were Connor Soo (9 points, 5 rebounds, 1 block), Matt Storeman (8 points, 2 rebounds, 4 steals), Tanner Lavelle (7 points, 4 rebounds), JT Pentz (6 points, 5 rebounds), and Issiah McCann (5 points, 8 rebounds, 1 steal). Jones was a big defensive contributor as well, racking up three rebounds, four steals and one block.

In all, Central Mountain finished the game with 52 rebounds (22 offensive / 30 defensive), two blocks and 14 steals.

The Wildcats have a bit of a break until Wednesday, Feb. 7, when they host Mifflin County. The regularly scheduled game at Huntingdon that was slated for Monday has been postponed because Huntingdon wrestling will be hosting a district dual match. The makeup date for Huntingdon is Friday, Feb. 16.
