Wildcats Roar with 69-56 Road Win over Altoona

ALTOONA – Central Mountain came up short in a key conference game in the last outing and then had to go on the road for another big non-conference challenge tonight and did what the Wildcats to best, bounce back and picked up a 69-56 win over the Mountain Lions.

Over the 19 year history of Central Mountain, wins on the hardwood over Altoona have been few, but the ‘Cats were on a mission this evening with four of their starting five putting up double digits in the game. CM had a 16-11 lead at the end of the first quarter, then tightened up their defense to outpace the Mountain Lions 18-6 in the second quarter and a 34-17 lead at the end of the first half thanks to a 20-4 run.

Altoona did edge the ‘Cats in the third quarter 20-13 and kept pace with their guests when CM returned the favor 20-19 in the fourth quarter but the deficit Altoona gave up in the early going was too much to overcome.

In the fourth quarter it was some very solid foul shooting by Central Mountain that solidified their win. Matt Storeman was 7-of-9 from the penalty stripe, Trevor Hanna was 3-of-4 and Tyler Adair was 4-for-4.

Storeman led the cats with 18 points, Collin Jones was just behind with 17. Hanna finished with 16 points and Isaiah McCann added 14 for the cause.

Hanna was a big defensive contributor as well, racking up nine rebounds and two steals. In all, Central Mountain finished the game with 28 rebounds (9 offensive / 19 defensive), two blocks and 11 steals.
