Andrus Hits 100 as Wildcats Drop 70 on Millionaires

WILLIAMSPORT – Thursday night was a special one for Central Mountain senior Seth Andrus. A four-year standout for the Wildcat wrestling team, Andrus earned his 100th career win as part of Central Mountain’s 70-3 blowout of Williamsport High School.

Andrus, 100-39 for his career, received a standing ovation from his teammates and fans in attendance after his 12-4 major decision win over the Millionaires’ Cam Dickey who was 17-9 entering the bout.

Afterwards Andrus said he was feeling “pretty good” and lauded what he called “great teammates, coaches and family” supporting him. He said the last few seasons have flown by. 31-11 a year ago and 23-3 so far this year, Andrus said goals this season include a district team dual championship and a trip to the state team dual meet tourney in Hershey, followed by a district title and, for him, a climb onto the podium at 132 pounds at the PIAA individual tourney in March.

Next year Andrus said he plans to go to college and has been considering Clarion, Bloomsburg and Lycoming.

Andrus and his teammates dominated the best Williamsport team in recent years, the Wildcats piling up seven pins, all in the first or second period, along with a technical fall, two majors, one regular decision and two forfeits. The victory left CM at 11-1 on the year, Williamsport dropping to 6-6.

Falls came from Austin Confer (12-12), Tanner Riggle (12-13), Mahlik Houtz (14-7), Jake Edwards (20-4), Jason Rinker (7-3), Johnny Shreffler (15-10) and Asher Corl (20-6). The technical fall came from Kayden Busey (4-8), the majors from Andrus and Tanner Weaver (23-4), the regular decision from Logan Long (21-6) and the forfeits were awarded to Dalton Bechdel (18-9) and Cody Coleman (17-9).

Next up for the Wildcats is a regular season meet with Bellefonte, the contest scheduled for the Bucktail High School gym Monday, Jan. 29. The night is seen as a thank you to Bucktail participants on the Wildcat team.

The Central Mountain junior high team stayed undefeated, downing the Millionaire junior high squad by a 53-33 score.
