Huntingdon ‘D’ Stifles Lady ‘Cats 59-28

BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP – It was another tough night for the Lady Wildcat basketball team as they fell to Huntingdon (7-3), 59-28 in non conference play. Central Mountain is now 0-12 overall and 0-5 in the PHAC.

The Lady Bearcats used a stifling defensive effort in the first half that almost completely shut down the CM offense. The Lady ‘Cats had extreme difficulty moving the ball into scoring position with Huntingdon creating a tremendous amount of turnovers and forcing Central Mountain into multiple miscues that gave the Lady Bearcats an insurmountable 39-9 halftime lead.

In the third quarter it was more of the same though the Lady Wildcats would not yield as they began to work for more offensive opportunities keeping pace with Huntingdon with the guests edging CM 10-8 in the third quarter for a 49-17 lead.

In the fourth quarter, Central Mountain finally found their rhythm led by senior, Taylor Fletcher who scored 9 of her 14 points in the final period to edge Huntingdon 11-10 in the final period. The second half effort turned out to be too little, too late as Huntingdon coasted to the win, 59-28.

Talyn Fredericks and Marissa Moyer each scored 3 points for CM with Madison Courter, Hayley Bauer and Avery Eckley scored 2 points each while Katie Burrows and Morgan Wetzel each had a free-throw to their credit.
