Young Bucks Ready to Go

By Jim Morgan

FARWELL – The Bucktail Bucks 2017-18 basketball team is going to be very young. A lot of underclassmen will be asked to be a part of this year success. Coach Dave Pentz feels confident with his underclass players right now. But he knows it will be different once they get going into the season. Pentz believes that they will surprise a couple of teams this year. With that said, that can only give his guys more confidence.

The returning lettermen from last season are senior Aaron Lucas, junior Alex Intallura, sophomores Gabriel Conway, Liam Dwyer and Devin Serafini. Joining them are senior Delmar Blackwell, juniors Gavin Becker, Trevor Burrows, sophomores Darrin Bruno, Tyler Snyder and four freshmen in Cole Hillyer, Joshua Linberg, Anthony Pentz and Cameron Sockman.

Coach Pentz is looking at pressing and running the floor and he believes that he has ten players that he can rotate without losing the speed of the game, . “Like I said we may be young, but i’m liking the speed that I’m seeing on the floor. Of course they will be intimidated by some teams. Once they get the butterflies out and into the flow of the game, they will be alright.”

The Bucks will open on Friday night at the Cowanesque Valley Tip-Off Tournament against Oswayo Valley. On Monday the Bucks will have their first home game as they will host Austin on a 6 p.m. start for the jayvees, followed by the varsity.
