Hannagan, Hannis CCEP Award Winners
LOCK HAVEN — Two longtime local public servants were the winners of the two prestigious awards presented at the annual Clinton County Economic Partnership dinner held Tuesday night at the Durrwachter Alumni Conference Center.
Bonnie Hannis was presented the annual Carl Bergdahl Award for promoting tourism in the county. She is a past member of the Partnership’s operating board and serves on its tourism committee. A past tourism committee chairman, Hannis played a lead role in reactivating the Bergdahl award, named for the late Renovo resident who was instrumental in establishing the Flaming Foliage Festival.
Lock Haven city planner Leonora Hannagan received the Frank D. O’Reilly Award, named for the late Lock Haven Express publisher. Hannagan has served the city for 20 years and helped the city garner some $17 million for a variety of municipal projects. She plans to retire next year. Both recipients were stunned by the announcement of their awards.
200 people attended the dinner. Karen Michael, District Executive with PennDOT’s Engineering District 2, was the keynote speaker. She detailed ongoing and future highway projects in the district. These include a restoration of Paul Mack Boulevard into Lock Haven, a $5 to 7.5 million project planned for next year; also the Route 120 Shintown slide project in Noyes Township, an ongoing project with a price tag of $2.5 to 3 million.
Members of the Millbrook Playhouse Youth Ensemble provided after-dinner entertainment. The group will be presenting “Elf the Musical, Jr.” at Lock Haven University’s Sloan Fine Arts Center, the dates Dec. 16 to 18.
