Letter to the Editor – Remembering Andrea Poleto
After a two year battle with Glioblastoma multiforme, (GBM) an aggressive cancerous brain tumor, Andrea Poleto dies on September 3, 2012. But thanks to some special friends, her memory lives on.
Mindy Ruth, Brianna Jarret, Amanda Rossell Edwards, Amanda Eienhower, and Cindy Werts had a memorial benefit on August 10, 2013.
T Shirts were made by Brad Casper and were sold and $600 was raised and donated to the Geisinger Health System Foundation. They are working on trying to find a cure for GBM’s.
We were entertained by Steve Miller and Four Day Ray in which Jay Hritzko, Dave Coleman, Kelly Whitty, Kenny Bottorf, and Luke Cozzi play. Terry “Pops” Duffield took care of the sound. All of you did a great job and we enjoyed you.
Then there were friends and businesses that donated for the raffles and auction. John Adams, Tony’s Hardware, Service Garage, Pat Reeder’s, Michelle Bixler Matthews, Daryl Friese, and Batterson Beverage.
Then for the ones that helped in ways we don’t think about but still very important. Sam and Nikki Werts, for the scaffolding, P.J. Palosky, for the use of your trailer and Scoot Costulas for delivering it. Butch Baker, picnic table, Linda Nesman, canopies, Janet Busshaus and Stumpy for the horseshoes. Rick and Deb for the use of the property. And the food, so much food and so very tasty.
Then the ones who did a great job cleaning up the mess we made. Josh and Kari Kepler, Tom Poleto, Mike and Amanda Eisenhower, Jay Hritzko, Dan Hildenbrandt, and Travis Styers. Thank you for doing the unwanted job.
A big thank you goes to all of these plus the ones who came and everyone who donated. Because of you $2000 was donated to the William Hoover Oncology Endowment Fund. It will help someone else to make life a little easier when they are facing a rough time in their lives.
Hopefully we didn’t miss anyone, forgive us if we did but we want to let you know this meant so much to us.
And WOW those lanterns, that was beautiful and touched our hearts.
Thank you to everyone for making this bash a success and hopefully we will see you next year at the 2nd Annual Andrea Poleto’s Memorial Bash.
She may be gone from our sight but Andrea, you will always live in our hearts.
The Poleto’s
Terry and Donna, Shane, Leah Ann, Morgan, and Ryder
