Updates from Western Clinton Sportsmen’s Association
We are NOT closing the Hyner complex!
This and many other rumors have been floating around lately and I want to clear the air.
Sadly, we have lost some key members within the Board of Directors over the last few years. They will be greatly missed. During times of reorganization, personnel changes, it is not unusual for there to be turmoil, misunderstanding, and misinformation. Again, we are not closing the Hyner complex. This along with other options were discussed over the course of several meetings, all have been tabled. We are focusing our energy on moving forward. This includes but not limited to honoring all scheduled events at the Hyner complex for 2016 and 2017.
Over the past 89 years there have been many individuals, businesses, and organizations that need to be thanked and recognized for their contributions to WCSA, but this list is far too long for a single newspaper article. Without them we wouldn’t have made it this far. The Hyner complex started out as a track of wooded hillside with an old green house trailer.
However, there are some who we need to thank and recognize today for their past, current and ongoing contributions to WCSA.
Ray Werts, Dale Benner, Alice Tarr; the countless hours keeping WCSA going as members passed away, retired, or moved away, when no one was stepping up to fill the vacancies. Gene Lavelle and the hatchery committee; one of the very few WCSA operations not greatly affected by the recent changes.
Doug Rowe; who single handedly kept the grass mowed, weeds trimmed, and the garbage picked up, etc.
Will Kelley; recently stepped up as committee chair for the shooting range. A monumental challenge…..
Eric Knauff; recently stepped up as committee chair for buildings and grounds. Again a monumental challenge…..
Craig Fleming and the Trail Dogs; again countless hours spent making the Hyner Challenge a reality and financial contributions to the Hyner complex.
The fact remains, we are still in dire need of volunteers. Not only to help with the day to day things, events, maintenance, but also to chair committees. We still have a long, long way to go. We are holding monthly meetings on the second Thursday of the month in the Hyner clubhouse at 7 p.m.

We welcome your input and need your help.
