RENOVO – A tranquil spring afternoon in the east end of Renovo came to halt for those inside a Delaware Avenue residence on Tuesday when a law enforcement SWAT team knocked down the front door and stormed in. Neighbors said those inside, not identified, were heard screaming when the police burst in.

A neighbor told therecord-online authorities entered the residence at 2039 Delaware Avenue about 12:30 p.m. and were inside until 5:30 p.m. She did not see those inside leave the ranch style home. She said some eight members of law enforcement, some in street clothes, some in uniform, burst in; some carried body shields and assault rifles.

Authorities so far have declined to comment on the raid. No information was provided by area police but neighbors said the Renovo borough police cruiser, a state police cruiser and a van were among the vehicles at the site. therecord-online has learned the raid was part of an ongoing effort against drugs in the area and a full release on the incident will be provided at some point in the future. No information was available as to if any charges have been filed.

Court house records show the house is owned by Michael and Taylor Stevens. Michael and June Stevens had purchased the home in 2004 for $45,000. It was transferred in March of 2014 to Michael and Taylor Stevens.

Neighbors said the Stevens over the years had left the home for a time and reportedly rented it out to others but subsequently returned. A nearby resident said Michael Stevens would say hello when getting the mail. She said she was not aware that Stevens has a job but there was frequent traffic, day and night, at the Stevens residence.
