LOCK HAVEN – The sentencing date for a confessed murderer from Renovo has been pushed back to May 26.

The sentencing appearance for William “B.J.” Snyder, 34, had been scheduled for May 4 but presiding Judge Michael Salisbury recently approved a prosecution request based on the unavailability of the victim’s family.

Snyder had been charged with first degree murder in last year’s Easter Sunday death of his wife but in January of this year agreed to a plea bargain which reduced a first degree murder charge to third degree.

Deputy attorney general Michele L. Kluk last month notified the court that the family of the victim had a pre-paid vacation scheduled for May 1-8 and had advised the former prosecutor of that fact; however, Kluk wrote the court, she had not been made aware of their unavailability until recently.

She said the family would like to be present at the sentencing to make a statement; she noted in her communication with the court that defense attorney David Lindsey had no objection to the request for the continuance.

Snyder has been incarcerated at the Clinton County Correctional Facility in McElhattan since his arrest last April in the strangulation death of his wife Kelly Jo Snyder.
