STATE COLLEGE — It’s a case involving a Bellefonte burglary and a State College motel “drug shop” that ended with the arrest of a Mill Hall man.

Jacob Purnell Snook, 27, of Mill Hall is in the Centre County Correctional Facility in lieu of $150,000 bail after his arrest Monday at the Imperial Motor Inn in State College. According to the Centre Daily Times, court documents said Snook had rented four rooms at the S. Atherton St. motel. The affidavit of probable cause states he had purchased 10 bricks of heroin and, along with three family members, was running a drug shop “with plenty of foot traffic.”

Snook was arraigned before District Judge Kelley Gillette-Walker on charges of burglary, receiving stolen property, theft by unlawful taking, conspiracy to commit burglary, delivery of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance, along with criminal trespass, tampering with evidence and summary criminal mischief.

The case began with a burglary last Thursday night at Housing Vending in Bellefonte. Owner John Houser told Bellefonte police a company safe had been broken into and $47,000 was missing. Authorities tracked the lone intruder, a Houser company employee who later admitted to a heroin addiction. Police allege they found text messages between that person and Snook and said the employee owed Snook money. Police said surveillance footage from an entry last Saturday showed both men entering the Houser building. Authorities said they identified Snook as the suspect in that video based on the print of his shoes.

Snook was taken into custody around noon on Monday. Police said he and others were found with $14,959 in cash plus heroin.
