LHU Women Surge Past Edinboro

lhu-hoopsLOCK HAVEN – The Lock Haven University women’s basketball team used a huge second half and strong defensive play to down Edinboro University, 67-53 today at Thomas Fieldhouse.

Lock Haven (6-7, 3-6 PSAC) outscored Edinboro (9-6, 4-5 PSAC) 43-27 in the second half on its way to the win.

Rachael McDaniel (Plainfield, N.J./California (Pa.) Univ.) led The Haven with 19 points, including two three-pointers.  Her 19 points were a new season-high and just two points shy of her career-best of 21.

Loren Kaiser (Bethlehem, Pa./Pace Univ.) had a solid all-around game with 15 points and five rebounds.

Lysa Mealing (Altoona, Pa./Altoona) netted eight points and grabbed a team-high eight rebounds.

Mackenzie Livingston (Blairsville, Pa./IUP) chipped in with nine points and four steals.

Defensively, LHU shut down the Edinboro offense all night.  The Fighting Scots were held to just 26.2% (17-65) shooting for the game.

Sydney Morse (Norristown, Pa./Norristown) played a major part in the defensive effort with four blocks in 25 minutes off the bench.

Lock Haven hit 25 free throws in the game, tying a season-high, including seven each from McDaniel, Kaiser and Livingston.

Lauren Hippo led Edinboro with 15 points and nine rebounds.

Lock Haven returns to action this week with two PSAC road games.  LHU travels to Mercyhurst on Wednesday (January 6) and Cheyney on Saturday (January 9).
